Well it's been awhile since I've held an Astroid giveaway so I thought it was time to do it again.  I've had great success with the previous 3 giveaways.  It would be really cool if we could hear from some of you past winners to see how you're liking your Astroid now that you've had time to use it.

The rules are simple.  There are none.  Registered users can simply post a short reply to this thread and you'll automatically be registered to win. You can post a reply as many times as you want but it will not increase your chances of winning.  I will announce the winner October 31, 2008.

In case you're wondering why I advertise the Astroid on my site, I'll fill you in.  I am forever in debt to John Hilton from Spatial Freedom.  John contracted me in 2005 to write a Solid Edge Addin that could interface with his Astroid.  In the process, he elevated my programming skills light years ahead of where I could have gotten by myself.  He's the one who turned me on to C++ and now I can, in turn, not only help the .NET community but also the C++ community.  He is a good friend of mine now and I would do anything that I can to help him.  As Paul Harvey would say, "Now you know the rest of the story".

Now let's see some posts!  Good luck!

[Update]
Grant Holohan from Ontario, Canada is our winner. Please help me congratulate our latest winner.  Congrats Grant and don't forget to let us know how it goes!

Thanks to everyone for trying.  If you didn't win, just remember that the Astroid sells at an affordable $149 USD.

Asking myself the question what is freedom, I may think, An asteroid is a small body circling the Sun.
Asking myself the question what is an asteroid, I may think, independence from external control is Freedom.
Asking myself the question what is synchronous, I may think, two events at the same time are synchronous
Asking myself the question what is technology, I may think, applied science is called technology
Asking myself the question what is a giveaway, I may think, yes please!

Sorry ;)

"My apologies I feel a need to apologize for my lack of involvement as of late.  I know that I still provide a lot of value to the community but I have not been as involved as I have in the past.  I also know that I've let some of you down when you've asked for my help.  I have a million excuses but my main excuse is burnout.  I'm sure most of you understand.  I just wanted to publicly state that I'm sorry if I've disappointed anyone.  My goals are still the same though.  I will do anything that I can to help the Solid Edge community grow."

Jason you have nothing to apologize for. Your efforts and contribututions over the years to the Solid Edge comunity has been tremendous and unequaled.

We're all happy for everything you do, and look forward to your help with ST.

I've always found the giveaway's too late. Thank you for giving it another try.

I hope the Wiki gets more traction. Hopefully lots of good ST stuff we get added that makes it the best/only place to find the details.

That would be great!

I can't really spread the word like I want to because of potential conflict of interest.

I hope its me....

But if the new documentation is too good, we might not need JasonNewell.net any more .

You know that's what started this website to begin with.  I can vividly remember trying to learn how to program for Solid Edge.  It was a nightmare.  I made it a personal mission to improve the situation.

So if there comes a day that the documentation gets that good, hopefully I can retire.

I also wanted to mention that if you guys have any questions about the Astroid, your welcome to ask them in this thread.  I don't mind this turning into a discussion thread.  I'll try to get answers to any questions that you may come up with.

I'm in for the giveaway. Since the drawing is on Halloween, do we have to have a costume for the Astroid if we win?
