I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know where I've been and what I've been working on for
some time now.  Some of you may have noticed that I have not been "visibly" active in the community in several months but I can assure you that does not mean that I haven't been working hard for you.

I've been a vocal voice for the Solid Edge community for several years now.  My primary message was
that the Solid Edge SDK was just not good enough.  I started this website, spoke at the developers
conferences, etc.  Well, someone in the organization finally heard me and I've been in contract
negotiations with Siemens PLM Software for several months now.  About two weeks ago, they finally
approved the contract for me to help them update their SDK.  Per NDA agreements, that's about all that
I can discuss with you at the moment.  I just want you to know that I'm still working hard to make
things better for this community.

I'm also going to have to excuse myself from the forums and from supporting any free software that I've
provided until this project is complete.

Thanks for your understanding.

First, congratulations!  Sounds like it will take a lot of your time.  Second, what does that mean to us developers?

Bob

Bob,

It means:

  1. I will not be available to help answer programming questions
  2. I will not have time to answer questions \ make improvements to PowerToys, Solid Edge Spy, etc.
  3. The next release of Solid Edge will contain updated SDK information for you.

For me, the greatest thing that came out of all this is the willingness by Solid Edge to improve their SDK.  We (the community) have needed that for some time now.

Thanks

We had a users group meeting yesterday and had several guys from Seimens there.  They said that they felt that V21 would be as revolutionary as V1 was.  They also said that Seimens is willing to fully support Solid Edge with time and money.  This can only improve the product!

Hi Jason,

I've just had a look at the new Solid Edge Programmers guide and SDK and I'm very impressed!
I'm sure that I will speak for all when I say well done on a good job.

Best regards,
James

Hey James,

That's really great to hear. Thanks so much. I'm also curious how you got your hands on it already. I guess I thought no one would see it until after RTM.

I also want to say that if you guys like what you see regarding the updated SDK, you'd better let your voice be heard to the powers that be. I can only fight the good fight by myself for so long. Without the voice of the community saying that this is important, it's going to be really hard to get approval for these kinds of projects.

Thanks again for taking the time to give feedback. It's much appreciated!
