Some my files showing error like this;
'Internal Error: Invalid Status 0x248
This part has internal inconsistentcies, please raport to GTAC.' and could not opened.
I have about a score files like this.
Anybody has ideas what is wrong?
The files are *.par, *asm, and *.dft and Solid Edge V20.

I tried change the status with Jasons SE Powertoys. This not helps.

Hi Andrus,

Would it possible for you to share one of the files with me?  I can take a quick look to see if I can fix it.  Just reply to this post with a .zip of the corrupted file.

Andrus,

I've looked at the files but I cannot find anything that I can fix. The status on all of the files are correctly set to Available. I believe you're going to need to send these into GTAC.

Someone that claims to work in the UG team claims that this error is caused by cracked license files and that only GTAC can fix them.

But I have some with the same error, and my license is legit.  Besides, if it was a licensing issue, I wouldn't think it would only affect such a small percentage of files.  I have about 10 parts out of thousands with this problem.  The files still open, the just give the "Part has internal inconsistencies.  Contact GTAC" message.

Hi,

A couple of days ago i started to experience the same problem. When i played around with the system date / time i was able to open the file again. However when i saved it i was unable to open it once the date and time were set back.

Have you found a solution to the problem yet? I have lodged it with GTAC who are currently looking into it for me.....

Regards,

Dizzeh

Hi guys, I have the same problem. The strange thing I've notice: on the assembly I am trying to open the creation date is 25.02.2008. while the date of the last modification is 21.01.2008. Is there a way to manualy fix this? I suppose it will solve the problem

Seems like I’ve opened a “can of worms” here, I’ve been getting a massive load of responses (privately) and not only from regular people.... if you know what i mean.

The problems I had also involved files created around the November / December period in 2007 and not being able to open them after January 2008.

I sent various Solid Edge .Par and .Asm files to GTAC, i guess they were “courteous” about the whole situation, we were using a “different” license, similar to the one you sent me. We had a "normal" license but needed additional features and therefore used a “different” license.

If you are just using solid edge .PAR, .ASM and .DFT files, I recommend you get a license for the solid edge package “design and draft”, it will not cost you as much as solid edge “classic” which includes the explode, render, animate package, sheet metal package and FEMAP (finite analysis).

I also thought that the problem was related to Microsoft NT Backup setting the “archive” attribute date/timestamp before the last access / modified timestamp which could cause problems at the extended attribute level of the file system and the way Solid Edge accesses the file. If I set the Windows XP workstation system date / time to a previous date, I was able to open the files without a problem.

With a "normal" licesne you will still get the "0x248" status, but you will be able to work with the files. Otherwise you will get the same error and solid edge will crash. I dont know if this whole problem has been "planted" or if it is a genuine issue with the software.

Hello:

Has a work around for this problem become available. Has a solution be offered by the UGS staff.

If the work around is changing the file dates, to what date do they need to be set back to?

There is a program at www.nirsoft.net/utils/filedatech.html that will take care of the date change on the files, but what does the system have to be set to?

I'm not sure the IT boys at our firm like the idea of a work around involving date changes but, any port in a storm, if it works short term....

Reson:
If a SE file is edited by cracked license once, the file is illegal. In SE ST2, It can't be opened!
Solution:
You can go back to old SE, open the part and save it to parasolid file. Then in SE ST2, use the legit license, open the parasolid and save it to part. But the shortcoming is you should do it one by one. the attribute values and material information will be lost.
If you have a lot of file to translate, and want to retain the attribute values, pls contact me.

HI.
Are the bad files always the ones where the modify date is before the creation date?

Hi!
I'm not skilled, but the ST3 seems to open faultlessly those corrupted files: just close the initial error reading message (which random changes its id at any new opening).
Hope it can help.
